The Opportunity

Two adjacent near-airport parking facilities serving Bradley International Airport (BDL) and located outside of Hartford, CT. The facilities contained 4,699 total parking spaces. 

Located in nearby Windsor Locks, CT, Bradley International is New England’s second-largest airport. The sellers, a family who had owned and operated the facilities for multiple generations, were seeking more than just a competitive price. They needed assurances that the new owners would honor the legacy they’d built and be exceptional stewards of the property, their employees, and their customers for the long term. 

They reached out directly to Green Courte’s near-airport parking operating company, The Parking Spot, as they were well aware of The Parking Spot’s strong track record of acquiring independently owned facilities and investing in smart, strategic improvements. Green Courte agreed to terms with the sellers and finalized the acquisition in July 2019. 

The Transformation

After the closing, The Parking Spot immediately began upgrading the facilities to include the brand’s signature amenities and better serve its customers. Improvements like a convenient mobile app and complimentary shuttle service helped create the seamless experience that has made The Parking Spot a national leader in the near-airport parking sector.  

The team also set out to capitalize on the company’s brand equity, in-house expertise, and existing relationships to drive awareness and growth. They rebranded the facilities with The Parking Spot’s signage, then launched a targeted advertising campaign to increase the facilities’ customer base.  

By leveraging long-standing national corporate relationships with some of the Hartford area’s largest employers — including United Technologies, General Dynamics, Aetna, and Cigna — The Parking Spot successfully tapped into the employee networks of these companies and established a steady pipeline of frequent business travelers.
